Smoke Cigarettes, Pet Your Dog, Look Cool

Best Craig's List Ad Ever.

Yes, I surf the internet looking at rentals, too -- not just houses for sale. And this one is a classic. If you don't know L.A., the neighborhood described here, Los Feliz, is a well-established (it was featured in the movie Swingers back in 1996) and relatively pricey one. I've seen plenty of famous actors walking around. As for being like New York City, I guess you could make that case in that it's impossible to park in Los Feliz.  Also, as a former Silverlake and current Echo Park resident, I didn't realize those were "anti-deodorant enclaves. Think of the money I could have saved!

I've put my favorite parts in bold.

$1795 / 2br - Vintage Spanish Los Feliz HOUSE! OFFSTREET PARKING,YARD,PET OK!PRIVATE (Los Feliz/Hollywood) (map)

Los Feliz Village - Where Art and Culture meet Neighborhood!! Trendy/artsy by night, hometown/folksy by day, and locals actually walk to the store – it’s how Los Angeles does New York. But spend a day with the local residents and business owners of this newly-official neighborhood and one will find a down-to-earth, even traditional, friendly character which belies its trendy night scene. Los Feliz Village is a community encompassing the history of Hollywood which can be seen in the early 1920's apartment buildings and craftsman homes that line its streets. We are a friendly neighborhood where you frequently run into your neighbors while walking about the community. Los Feliz Village is a one stop place for locals and proves that you don't always need a car in LA. So much is located with walking distance is a blessing to many who call this neighborhood home. We are blessed with a glorious Farmer's Market every week !
For Los feliz Village-ites, the arts ARE things to do. And despite all the poseurs who flock here at night, flaunting their forced counterculture style and off-putting airs of pretended superiority; this is still a genuinely literate, artistic neighborhood. Even the actors and indie filmmakers who call Los Feliz Village their home are all about expanding their horizons, so when they says arts, they don’t always mean “movies”.
Third, true to its nature as a dog-loving community, most restaurants allow small dogs on their outdoor patios. You will live one block from Hollywood's Greaesty Secret - Barnsdall Art Park ! With Wine-Tasting on the lawn at Sunset on Fridays, Free art classes at the Junior Arts Center, and the world-famous Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery at your feet. A DOG-FREINDLY private oasis in the city !
Dine on haute cuisine, smoke cigarettes and pet your dog. Look cool. You’re now an honorary local.
Los Feliz Village is often described as the closest thing Los Angeles has to New York's Greenwich Village , which in large part is due simply to the serendipity of the zoning and architecture of the area, which allows locals to walk rather than drive for most of their errands, and bundles stores together in a cute row, a la Manhattan, rather than having each store located in a mall surrounded by a parking lot the size of a small county. And of course the buildings are relatively old for L.A., which adds to the NY feel. Village residents, , are musicians, actors (not only aspiring, but a few working, too), fine artists and working-stiff bohemians who pay $800-$1100 a month for a studio apartment with no assigned parking but everything available within a short walk.
But this demographic group describes a lot of areas, so what makes the Village special is that, situated between the hard-core anti-corporate, anti-film studio establishment, anti-deodorant enclaves of Silver Lake and Echo Park to the east, and the schmoozy, “industry”-obsessed, sycophant life of the Westside to the west, Los Feliz Village residents enjoy a happy medium of independent thought and artistry, as well as an unpretentious, unashamed desire to succeed in their art.
“Village” may be an overused phrase these days, describing everything from concrete jungles to non-descript carve outs from unfavorable postal designations, but as you enjoy your morning coffee at Square One (Rated the Best Breakfast in LA by the LA Weekly ) or lunch at Cafe Figaro, or the Alcove ( featured in so many tv and cool movies ) or see a movie in the old-school movie theaters, or shop at Squaresville Clothes or pick up a book at the REAL,INDEPENDANT Book Store, See a new play, you will understand how perfect it fits !
