New Book Is Out!

It's finally here! Life Would Be Perfect If I Lived In That House. In stores NOW.

Pick up a copy. Or several. (Hint: if your mom's a house nut, this is a great Mother's Day gift.) But, as I've said, the target audience is: every person on earth. Or thereabouts.

bookjacketfinalYou can check out this review from the Wall Street Journal and this super fun interview on public radio's Marketplace, which aired Monday, May 3. I had the pleasure of having Marketplace host Kai Ryssdal at my house. Ever wonder what these guys look like in person?

  1. Hey Meghan,

    Can't wait to read it!

    Sheryl
  2. wohoo! just placed my order : ).
  3. Read the review about your new book and immediately went to Amazon to order it, as well as your essays. One of my long time friends and I reviewing our lives and marriages together recently came to much of the same conclusions about marriages I suspect you came to with houses. That is, the dreams we had about what marriage would be couldn't possibly be matched by reality. We had unhappy childhoods and are both now in our 70s. Both of us have been married several times. I came to the conclusion Dick and Jane's family never existed in real life and that marriage is something far different than that advertised in my youth. Only took me 3 marriages to reach that conclusion, but it sure helps.
    Good luck with the book!
  4. I heard you on "Talk of the Nation" today & tried throughout the whole segment to call in. I've never done that before! I can't wait to read the book & will be heading to the bookstore tonight after work.
  5. Congrats! I've already read it and I could not put it down (okay I put it down once or twice just to go to the bathroom or eat). Wonderful and I laughed out loud at the Gen X quote at the end.
  6. Enjoyed your interviews on TOTN & with Patt M. The TOTN host mentioned an e-mailer, with link to her house site, that I don't know if you are aware of. If not, DO NOT go to Zillow, DO NOT put in "Keokuk,IA", DO NOT look for "SFR"+"1855" and, whatever you do, DO NOT look at an 3000sf Italianate mansion with period furniture (no heart-shaped jacuzzi in sight) that lists for 250k. You've been warned.
  7. My boyfriend is heading out to the bookstores in California right now to bring me back a copy.... can't wait. While I never went from house to house thinking it would make me happy, I have certainly done the same with handbags. So I'm thinking I will be able to relate....
  8. Please don't ever go back on the Adam Carolla podcast again. Your book is made for rich people. I hope nobody buys it and you have to settle for looking at studio apartments for the rest of your life. You make me sick!
  9. Longtime fan here. I can't wait to read your new book. My Misspent Youth is one that I've returned to again and again over the years, and I'm sure Life Would Be Perfect... will be no different. Especially since I dream of living in Southern California.
  10. You need to link to some interior and exterior pics of the house!
